Sigueiro to Santiago 16.4 km
Thursday 25 August
It is good to have an end to journey towards: but it is the journey that matters in the end. Ernest Hemingway.
We left this morning at 7.45 after a nice complimentary breakfast from our hostel. Included Santiago tarta which was appropriate but don't usually have cake for breakfast!
A nice mornings walk with cool breeze and 18°. It is amazing that once again as we get close to Santiago the number of walkers suddenly multiplies. We have spent 7 days walking this time and mostly not had another walker in sight then this morning about 10 km from Santiago the mini procession began.
Reached the first cafe at 10 am.
A large group of young Spanish at the cafe enjoying their walk into Santiago.
Some like to look the part.
Steve Teresa and Carmen from California.
Accommodation in Santiago: Libredon Rooms next to the Cathedral. euro 110.00
Unsure of what was on the lunch menu. Put the second item FIDEOS CON POLO into the spanish/english translation app = 'Dude with a pole'. Ordered it anyway and enjoyed Noodles with chicken.
Spent the afternoon resting up and then doing our laundry at the automatic laundry a couple of streets away.
Tomorrow we will visit the pilgrims office and then arrange to store a little bit of our gear to lighten our packs for the Camino to Finisterre and Muxia (pronounced "moo chee a" we have learnt). Hope to start on Saturday so need to start our accom bookings.
Today's walk finishing the Camino Ingles in Santiago de Compostella:
Today's quote: "Be radically generous. Even if it makes no sense - give."
Well done on finishing the Camino Ingles, another one ticked off!

ReplyDeleteGood to know travel through Spain seems to be a lot easier again. Did they swing the incense burner in the cathedral?
Thanks Trish and Alan. Have thought of you both a few times as we walk to Finisterre. Have been using your cap trick at the water doubts these hot days. Good tip.
