Day 4, Porto do Son to O Marino,Portosin

Monday, 21 September 2026, 9 kms walked The forecast high this morning was 37° so we needed to start early even though we were not going far. We set off at 8.30. We were walking towards the east as the sun rose. A mix of road walking, mostly minor roads, also partly shaded tracks and boardwalks behind the dunes. We stopped for coffee at Marbols bar around 10.30. The only food on offer was tostada and we had already had toast with our breakfast earlier. We ended up having a pistachio ice cream to keep us going. We reached our hotel at O Marino before noon and had a coke each, with complimentary tapas of chick peas and bacon in a tomato gravy. Day 3, A Serre de Outes to Porto do Son

Sunday, 20 September 2026. A day of bus rides. Waiting for the bus to Noia this morning. We arrived in Porto do Son around 1 pm and found our hotel a few minutes walk from the bus stop. We had a coffee and then checked in to our room and reserved a table for lunch at 2 pm. Albarino wine, Ensalada Verde, Scallops Pacifico (most likely local), and the main course special of pork with patatas and grilled mushroom, pepper, courgette and onion. We shared these dishes and that worked well - not quite Jack Sprat and his wife but we managed to leave the plates clean. The beach at Porto do Son Across the estuary is Muros. San Vicente de Noal church Walking back along the beach about 6 pm, still 32°. We will finish the day with coffee and dessert later. Day 2, Punta Uia to A Serre de Outes

Saturday 19 September, 11 kms walked Hotel Rustico at Punta Uia certainly lived up to its name. The biggest problem for us was lack of water pressure in our 3rd floor bathroom. The hotel certainly needs money spent on it but we doubt they get much business as they are in a fairly isolated spot. Breakfast was included but didn't begin until 9 am. Because we had nearly 6 kms to walk on the main road before we came across the Camino path we wanted an early start. This is the problem when you have to divert from the Camino for accommodation. A high of over 30 was forecast. We set off at 7.45 as the sky was lightening. Sunrise was at 8.15 this morning. As we half expected being Saturday morning, no shops or cafes or bars were open until we came to O Cruceiro de Roos where the only place open was a supermercado. We bought food for breakfast and ate some sitting on a bench in the deserted main street. We carried the rest of the food looking for a good picnic spot but didn't find one s...

Muros, some photos

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 16-18 September  On Wednesday we missed our bus stop and had to get off at the next stop, San Francisco  beach, and walk back. First we found a nice place for lunch and then googled the walking route back to Muros. Lovely white sandy beaches. View from our hotel room window, 3rd floor, no lift, P R J Lago pension. The parish church in Muros. San Pedro. We went to the 8.30 pm Mass on Thursday. A large congregation of locals. After we had dinner at the Bodegon restaurant, a seafood restaurant near the fish market.

Muros Noia Camino, Day 1, Muros to Punta Uia.

Friday, 18 September 2026, 17.3 kms walked. We started out at 8 am thinking we would only walk 14.7 and get a taxi for the last bit to our hotel. This was because the Hotel Rustico is 2.6 kms off the Camino route and involved walking on the main road in the hottest part of the day. Leaving Muros.  The mussel barges offshore from Muros. There are 200 of these barges in the estuary. Coffee stop mid morning. We stopped at this beach to eat our picnic lunch. Most of today's walking was through wooded areas with plenty of shade. Quite a lot of eucalyptus but also pines as well as oak and Chestnut trees. There were a few hills but the highest elevation was 100 metres above sea level. When we reached the bar where we were planning to arrange a taxi the locals found it amusing that the only taxi driver in that area had just sat down at one of the tables to tuck into a huge meal complete with a bottle of red wine.
