Ferrol to Fene 16km

 Thursday 18 August

Left Ferrol at 7 am before sunrise. The sky was lightening up as the sun rises at 8 am. We stopped for coffee and tostadas at 8.30. We had eaten kiwi fruit before leaving our accom but were in need of something more.

Some pics from on the way.

We had thought we might take a shortcut over one of the bridges but decided to do the full distance. With a high of 21° it was pleasant walking.  100 kms. to go.

The way took us past the monument to bread which seemed appropriate given Teresa's  grandfather's and father's occupation as bakers at the panaderia (bakehouse) in Ohakune, Petone, etc.

Had one more stop for coffee then on to our pension where we are  staying. The last 4 kms were off the Camino path and were a bit of a drag.

Pencion Residencia Acepa 40 euro dated clean comfortable accommodation.
Arrived at 1 pm and had to wait for the owner Tino to come to check us in. Tino said we had walked 20 km but think it was more like 17.
Waiting for Tino

After showers and laundry we headed across the railway bridge to get a late lunch. Ate at O son de Cociña. Monica who owns the bar restaurant was very helpful and made us a nice 3 course lunch even though it was siesta time. We have made a new friend here and she hopes to come to NZ one day. We exchanged phone numbers. We will go back there around 8 pm for dinner.

The path today. We walked a bit further on to Fene.
