A Coruña to Ferrol

 Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17

Rained on and off all day on Tuesday and a chilly 18° at times. Spent the day sightseeing and a bit of shopping. A Coruña is the capital city of Galicia and quite a big city on the coast. Full of life and bustle. Impressions:  lots of lovely looking dogs, cafes and bars plentiful, fruiteria (fruit and veg shops) everywhere and many baby wear shops.

We are in Asterix country here in Galicia. Outside the town hall on Maria Pita plaza. Maria seems to be a local warrior heroine?

We are enjoying plenty of salads, very fresh lettuce and vegetables. Ensalada Completa - the complete salad - makes a nice light meal.

Caught the bus to Ferrol at 12.30. A stunning trip covering some of the area we will walk tomorrow. Got our credentials stamped at the pilgrim office. Woman behind the counter said we are the first New Zealanders to do the Camino Ingles. We don't think that is right but she was excited about it.

After a celebratory drink with our lunch we made our way to Choyo II where we are staying. ( Dated clean comfortable accommodation.  40 euro) short walk to town.

At the start of the Camino Ingles. 117km to go.

Dinner at Bla Bla Cafe a nice street cafe. Delicious Pizza with unusual toppings. Sure that the Pizza Nutella  - Nutella and lacasitos (Smarties) would appeal to a few of the younger grandchildren. We passed on that option and had the Pizza Di Mare. (It was delicious).

Cafe and Tarte de quesa to follow.
