Day 7 Vila Nova de Cerveira to Valenca 15.5 kms

Very good accomodation last night spacious own room with bathroom. After breakfast at the hostel we left at 8.15.
Leaving Vila Nova de Cerveira we passed this art installation which features mannequin body parts. The inscription explained: "The Wall of Shame - this wall makes reference to the wall between the US and Mexico and the wall between Israel and Palestine where thousands of people have died."

This building houses the swimming pool.

Todays walk followed the Minho river along the  Ecovia or Ecopista (shared walk / cycle ways). Lovely walk with lots of shade. Cyclists here are very polite and considerate which makes for a relaxing walk. The pathways are also very wide so there is no problem.

The path on the left is the ecopiste for walkers and cyclists. We often found the track for motorbikes, horses and cars easier on the feet.

No cafe or bars along the way. Stopped for a picnic lunch.  2 kilometers before our destination, just when we were hanging out for a coffee or beer, we rounded a corner and there appeared a cafe!

Antonio at cafe Minerio was a very hospitable and charming host.

Refreshed we walked the last bit into Valenca to our accomodation at  Portas do Sol (€40 double room with bathroom) a lovely place within the walls of the Fortelza (fortified city).
Arrived Valenca 2.45 pm 25°

Our last day in Portugal!
We have found the portugese, friendly and always welcoming. We have managed with mainly two Portugese words 'bom dia' (good day said as bon dia) and 'obligado' (thank you). A pleasure to have been guests in their wonderful country.
