Day 4 Porto de Muge to Santarem
What a lovely place we stayed in last night. A bit more expensive but nice to have some luxury. Dinner last night was duck with very tasty rice and salad. After a delicious breakfast we set out for Santarem, a 17 kms walk through agricultural land. Very flat and although it was hotter today, 27° high, we managed to complete today's walk. Blisters well bandaged so hopefully will be ok.
We arrived at Santarem before 2 pm but N1 Hostel, where we are staying tonight, didn't open until 3pm so a cold drink and a relax at Eva cafe was appreciated. Santarem sits on a hill so our first hill climb.
A snake on the path as we started out this morning. It didn't move but we weren't sure whether it was alive or not. The next one was definitely dead, squashed with it's red belly showing. It looked venomous.7.9 kms to Santarem
Dusty feet. The dust on the roads was 3 or 4 cm deep in places. Drivers were very considerate and drove slowly past.
