Muxia Finisterre Madrid

Sunday. Raining on and off. We had bought a few supplies at the supermercado yesterday so made ourselves muesli fruit and yoghurt breakfast and went out for coffee and croissant about 10.30. After lunch, between showers we walked along the promenade to the little beach at the end.

Muxia is a lovely town. Enjoying it in spite of the rain.

Photo above. We hope to climb this rocky hill at the other end of town before we leave tomorrow - weather dependent:

Our apartment is on the third floor in the white building to the right of the red building at left side of above photo.

Monday
Once we checked out of apartment we walked along the waterfront and back then found the tourist information office and got our Muxia certificate. We were able to leave our packs there while we visited the church and climbed the rocky hill above the town.

After some lunch at As Baleas we picked up our packs and caught the 2.15 pm bus back to Finisterre. €1.30.

The bar opposite Cafe Berlin Madrid on Rua Real. Both worth a visit when in Finisterre.

Had an early dinner at Berlin Madrid cafe then bought tickets for the sunset boat cruise. Enjoyed in spite of the rough seas.

Tuesday

Bus to Santiago,€3.55. Arrived in the pouring rain. Rivers running down centre of streets and overhead gutters overflowing on the edges.

Collected our stored gear from Casa Ivar. Lunch at Taberna a Fuego Lento. The maitre de or owner was very welcoming. We had already been asked to leave one bar because of our very wet gear and backpacks so we appreciated being told it was no problem.

Lovely tapas and wine followed by dessert of Grandma's tarte and coffee. The rain had stopped so we went back to the Cathedral square for a quick photo op.

Made our way to train station to await our 5.50 pm train to Madrid. €69.30. Will be pleased to be back to sunshine. Arrival time 10 pm.

  2. You are right. It is Beautiful and different. Sometimes though you have to look for the beauty and overlook some shabbiness but that is true in any country.
