Day 3 Esposende to Viana do Castelo 24 kms
Left at 6.00 am when it was cool and good for walking. A beautiful moon accompanied us along the seaside. A long hot day. The way was very beautiful today but the temperature was in the 30's. Much more shade than in Spain but plenty of stretches in the sun too.
When we reached Vila do Castelo the sun was very hot and we needed to cross a very long bridge that seemed like it would never end. Then to get to our albergue we took the funicular railway up the hill. The carriage was full with no air conditioning and it was a long ride. As we reached the top there was a problem and we ended up at the bottom again. After waiting in the hot carriage for some minutes, up we went again. By the time we alighted Teresa was feeling so faint she had to sit for half an hour before walking to the albergue.
Dinner at the restaurant here with a German girl we have met, Susanne.
A much shorter walk today Saturday 14th, 9 kms. Time this morning to use the laundry here before we leave.
